MISERY

Thrilling Adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery Comes to the Stage

The horror classic begins previews on May 2 and runs through June 2.

Theatre lovers and fans of Stephen King’s iconic work are in for a spine-chilling treat as Theatre Three proudly presents MISERY, the stage adaptation of the acclaimed psychological thriller novel. Adapted for the stage by William Goldman, this gripping production promises to captivate audiences with its intense storyline, compelling characters, and suspenseful atmosphere. Set against the backdrop of a remote Colorado town, MISERY tells the tale of renowned author Paul Sheldon and his harrowing encounter with his number one fan, Annie Wilkes.

Directed by Christie Vela, the play delves deep into the dark and twisted psyche of Annie Wilkes as she holds Paul captive, forcing him to rewrite his latest novel to her exacting standards. As tension mounts and secrets unravel, audiences will be on the edge of their seats, immersed in a world where obsession and madness collide. “This play forces us to watch this writer grapple with his own hubris in a very visceral way,” says Vela. Annie forces Paul to acknowledge and be grateful for his talent just as he is aspiring to be ‘taken seriously’ as a writer. She definitely teaches him to not look a gift pig in the mouth.”

Known for her role as Francesca Liddy in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”, Tina Parker, Co-Artistic Director and Company Manager of Kitchen Dog Theater, brings her talent to the stage in MISERY. Joining her are fellow Kitchen Dog Theater Company Members, director Christie Vela and actor Cameron Cobb, whose artistic expertise elevates this compelling production to new heights. Adding to the excitement, T3 newcomer LaQuintence Canady II joins this powerhouse cast, ensuring that MISERY will be an unforgettable experience. Get ready for heart-stopping suspense and moments of sheer terror that will leave audiences breathless and begging for more.
