Two by Two

Richard Rodgers entered his seventh decade of writing for the theatre with this fresh retelling of the Biblical story of Noah.  It seems that the building of the ark was only the first of Noah's many daunting challenges in a journey that wasn't always smooth sailing. By turns inspirational and hilarious, Two by Two demonstrates that being chosen by God for great things does not necessarily simplify the daily demands on a father and husband. It's good fun from The Good Book... and when the land has dried, man and beast alike are invited to go forth and prosper in a bright New World.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, setting the standards and rules of modern musical theatre. In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story. Their romantic journey, as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie and hapless Will Parker in a musical adventure embracing hope, determination and the promise of a new land.

Moving Creatures

Moving Creatures

MOVING CREATURES, written and directed by Matthew Posey, is a politically charged satire about an evil and intolerable oligarch, Baron Leopold McDoogal, and his four monstrous creations. The Baron is a soured, bloated old goat who lords over a once rich and beautiful region that is now a wasteland due to the Baron’s greediness.

People suffer, and their lives have become intolerable under the reckless hand of this narcissistic ruler. The monsters were once beautiful, successful women that fell victim to the Baron’s insatiable desire to kill, destroy and rebuild in his own image. They are now very weird, freakishly vengeful, incredibly clever women who avenge their untimely deaths; consequently, healing the scourge of the land.

MOVING CREATURES, which takes place during the Gilded Age at the turn of the 20th century, is a mysterious world that has a moving mansion, disrespectful furniture, talking portraits of surly ancestors, and constantly changing rooms, gardens, and grand halls. MOVING CREATURES is a wild ride that shows “no mercy” to the tyrannical and reminds us of the frailty of human nature.

Death/Take:1!

Written by Kurt Kleinmann

Directed by Raymond Banda

Adapted for RadioVision by John Harvey

This is a very special time to present DEATH/Take:1!, as it is directly related to the super-successful production this past March of Mystery at the Old Café by Patty Lewis. Both plays (DEATH/Take:1! and Mystery at the Old Café) start at the same point in time. Lt. Foster, of the Metropolitan Police, has just gotten trapped on an ocean liner with Harry Hunsacker, would-be actor turned would-be detective, and Nigel Grouse (Harry’s paid-by-the-hour assistant and friend) as unwanted travel companions. Foster telegrams Bubbles, his bride-to-be, giving her the bad news that he will miss their wedding. At that point, the story of Bubbles and her gal pals is chronicled in Mystery at the Old Café, while Foster’s journey (with Harry and Nigel) is portrayed in DEATH/Take:1!

The Story: The year is 1938. After getting trapped on an ocean liner with Harry and Nigel, Lt. Foster and his friends end up in Egypt. Naturally, they soon stumble across trouble. An action-adventure movie is being shot inside the pyramid our intrepid trio has entered. The hapless film director (Edward Harper), the famous action-adventure star (Monte Riggs), and his leading lady (Mary Ralston) are being bullied by the acid-tongued and all-powerful screenwriter (Lawrence Alexander). With tension thick in the air, it isn’t long before somebody snaps and someone eats a lead sandwich! Harry, Nigel, and Foster must solve this nefarious crime before the killer strikes again! And will Harry ever get that film role he so desperately pursues? Join us for a RadioVizion® presentation of this comedy-murder mystery, where you are the studio audience for a “live” radio broadcast!
