Two Great Plays Closing Today

We have two plays closing today that you really can’t miss. Matt Lyle’s Big Scary Animals has its final performance today at 2:30 at Theatre Three. I was there for my second time Wednesday night. It was every bit as funny, intense, and moving as it was the first time. The first rate acting and directing here will both delight and challenge you. Matt Lyle’s script is full of unexpected surprises, both humorous and devastating. Big Scary Animals is a play that will most assuredly garner national attention and we are very lucky to see it first here in DFW.

On the other end of the spectrum is Dallas Theater Center’s Clue which plays its final performance tonight at 7:30. Clue is murder mystery farce made into high art by this spectacular production. The design alone is reason enough to see this play, but it is so much more. It is pure giddy joy from beginning to end and directed with such precision that the laughs are nonstop. Clue has some of the finest ensemble comic acting that you will ever see. It’s a guaranteed great time.

Why not make it a double header today? Catch Big Scary Animals at the matinee, go for an early dinner, then head a few blocks south to join me at Clue. There is just no better way for a theater lover to spend a Sunday than at one or both of these plays.
