Vee India

If you’ve seen the current production of Pippin at Theatre Frisco, you witnessed a new DFW superstar conquer the stage. Vee India in the role of the Leading Player is astonishing. Vee’s powerhouse vocals, dancing, and phenomenal stage presence make this a performance that must not be missed. I knew immediately that I had to feature her in Beyond the Bio. Vee’s exceptional talent is going to take her exciting places, but let’s hope she continues to share her magic in the Metroplex before Broadway calls. Take a few moments to learn more about Vee’s background and her future aspirations.

When was your first time on stage?

I sang “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston at my kindergarten graduation. I still remember my mother and I listening to the song over and over again to prepare for my big moment. When it was finally time to sing the song, they cut it short because it was too long. That was the very first time that I was introduced to my true passion, and the first big disappointment I experienced because I wanted to finish what I had worked so hard for. Since then, I have created this resilience to never let anyone stop me from doing what I love…I still haven’t stopped singing…

When did you know you wanted to be an actor?

The “Play House on the Square” theater was offering classes to the public in Memphis, TN during the summer of 2021. The instructors discovered that I had a natural talent for expressing my personal life through characters who were experiencing similar things that I had endured during my lifetime. I realized that although acting opened old scars from my past, it also healed them at the same time. I had been struggling with anxiety and depression, but acting, music, family, and friends saved my life.

 Who is your greatest mentor?

It wouldn’t be fair to name one mentor considering so many people have advised and impacted my life in so many ways, especially my teachers from KD Conservatory in Dallas, TX, and Overton High School and Colonial Middle School in Memphis, TN.

.What role have you enjoyed the most in your career so far?

What person(s) would you like to be on stage with?

I would like to share the same stage with Viola Davis and Cynthia Erivo. Viola Davis always owns any role she does. The passion in her body and eyes speaks volumes to the masses. I get chills every time she speaks. Cynthia Erivo has a powerhouse singing voice and beauty inside and out that I’d like for people to see in me as I see in her. They are my role models, and I do believe that I will share the stage with them someday.

What are your career goals?

My goal is to never allow my talents to die and to forever expand my knowledge within performing arts. I try not to be super specific with goals considering I’d rather not put myself in a box. There are too many things to explore to do that. I believe that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Therefore, there aren’t any limits to what I can do.
